South-East Leaders Urge Support for Tinubu's 2027 Re-election
South-East political leaders called on the region to support the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 general election.
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Okezie Kalu, Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma called on the South-East region to support the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the January 16, 2027, general election. The leaders spoke during an All Progressives Congress women's rally in Enugu, which was flagged off by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu.
Kalu argued that the region should reciprocate the president's commitment to the Igbo people, citing the signing of the South-East Development Commission Bill and Tinubu's previous tenure as Governor of Lagos State as evidence of this support. Governor Uzodimma stated that the current administration has ended years of marginalization by improving healthcare, education, and infrastructure.
Governor Mbah urged residents to ignore opposing voices and build political relationships beyond their own region to ensure the administration's work continues. The rally served as a mobilization effort for the APC Women’s Mobilisation Campaign and South-East Women Empowerment Programme.
