Democrats Allege Trump Energy Stocks Gained $15.5 Million
Democrats on the Joint Economic Committee claim President Donald Trump's oil and gas holdings grew by $15.5 million amid surging energy prices.
Donald Trump may have seen his oil and gas stock holdings increase by up to $15.5 million this year, according to a report from Democrats on the Joint Economic Committee. The committee alleges that assets including shares in Exxon Mobil, Chevron, Valero Energy, and Marathon Petroleum rose an average of 39% through August 17, a trend driven by oil price surges during the war with Iran.
The report further claims the president purchased up to $3.6 million in additional energy stocks during the first quarter of 2026. This activity included the purchase of Chevron shares following a U.S. operation in Venezuela.
The Trump Organization denied any presidential involvement in these trades. The organization maintains that the investments are held in fully discretionary accounts managed by independent institutions with sole authority over trades, asserting that the president and his family provide no input on investment decisions.
