RNC Transfers $50 Million to Support Midterm Candidates
The Republican National Committee is transferring over $50 million to House and Senate committees to maintain congressional control ahead of the November 3 midterm elections.
The Republican National Committee is transferring more than $50 million to the National Republican Congressional Committee and the National Republican Senatorial Committee to support midterm candidates. Between mid-August and mid-October, the committee moved over $44 million, with at least $6 million more planned before the November 3 election.
This spending surge follows a June Supreme Court of the United States ruling that removed limits on coordinated spending between party committees and candidates. The RNC is utilizing these funds for coordinated advertising, ground games, and voter-turnout operations, particularly in districts where President Donald Trump has low approval ratings. Donald Trump stated that Republican campaign efforts have already spent over $300 million, with total projections expected to exceed $400 million by Election Day.
In contrast, the Democratic National Committee has reported negative cash on hand for most of the cycle. To counter the Republican financial advantage, Democratic megadonor Michael Bloomberg is committing $80 million to support Democratic candidates as both parties intensify outreach in one of the most expensive midterm battles in U.S. history.
