House Democrats Plan Oversight Campaign Against Donald Trump

House Democrats are developing a comprehensive oversight campaign targeting Donald Trump, his family, and his administration. The strategy, led by Representatives Robert Garcia and Jamie Raskin, would be implemented if Democrats secure a House majority in the November elections.

The plan focuses on using subpoena power and public hearings to establish a narrative of accountability ahead of the 2028 presidential election. Unlike the 2018 midterms, when party leaders avoided the topic of impeachment to avoid alienating voters, current leadership views impeachment as a viable tool in the toolbox to check presidential power.

Representative Jamie Raskin stated that members of the Democratic party are not afraid to utilize the impeachment process. Representative Robert Garcia is poised to lead the Oversight Committee under a Democratic takeover, while Raskin is in line to lead the Judiciary Committee.
