Trump Prepares Executive Strategy for Potential Democratic Congress

President Donald Trump is planning to use extensive executive actions and vetoes to govern if Democrats win control of Congress in the November 3 midterms.

The White House of Donald Trump has spent months preparing to govern through unilateral executive power in anticipation of a potential Democratic victory in the November 3 midterm elections. Since April, senior officials including Stephen Miller and Russell Vought have worked with the White House Counsel's Office to identify executive actions targeting immigration, federal spending, housing costs, and tariffs on critical minerals and wind turbines.

Trump indicated he intends to use his veto power extensively before pursuing compromises, stating, "I guess I'll become Mr. Veto." To support this strategy, White House lawyers are briefing appointees on subpoena responses and seeking Justice Department opinions to invoke executive privilege. This preparation comes as the administration braces for potential Democratic-led investigations into the use of presidential power for personal gain and the blocking of judicial nominees.

The administration has already employed executive authority during this second term to reduce the federal workforce and pursue military objectives against Iran. White House spokeswoman Lauren Bis defended the administration's record, asserting that the government and Republicans will continue to secure borders and restore law and order.
