APC Groups Clash Over Bola Tinubu 2027 Re-election Bid
The Renewed Hope Ex-Councillors Forum pledged support for President Bola Tinubu while northern youth groups threatened to withdraw their backing over regional exclusion.
Political divisions emerged within the All Progressives Congress regarding the potential 2027 re-election bid of Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The Renewed Hope Ex-Councillors Forum, a coalition of more than 100,000 former councillors, inaugurated its national executive council in Abuja and pledged to mobilize its grassroots network to support the president and the party.
Simultaneously, the Arewa Democratic Youth Stakeholders Forum and the North-West APC Youth Stakeholders Forum threatened to withdraw their support. These northern groups allege a systemic exclusion of northern youth from political appointments and decision-making processes. They specifically accused Seyi Tinubu, the president's son, of strategically blocking Arewa youths to favor Yoruba-affiliated individuals.
To coordinate their response, the northern forums summoned 1,378 registered APC support group leaders. They stated that support for the 2027 bid remains conditional on the administration addressing regional balance and inclusiveness.
