Israel Intensifies Southern Lebanon Offensive Despite Fragile Ceasefire

The Israel Defense Forces intensified military operations across southern Lebanon over the weekend of August 17, 2026, deploying ground vehicles and airstrikes in the Nabatieh, Marjeyoun, and Bint Jbeil districts. The offensive focused on seizing the Ali al-Taher hills to destroy Hezbollah infrastructure, with reports that dozens of militants remain trapped in underground positions.
