Elaine Luria Leads Jen Kiggans in Virginia District Survey
Democratic challenger Elaine Luria leads Republican incumbent Jen Kiggans by three points in a survey of likely voters in Virginia's second Congressional District.
A survey of likely voters in Virginia's second Congressional District shows Democratic challenger Elaine Luria leading Republican incumbent Jen Kiggans by three points, 46% to 43%. Luria is a former Representative who previously served on the House committee investigating the January 6 capitol riot.
The data, released by the Wason Center at Christopher Newport University, indicates that the race is heavily influenced by perceptions of Donald Trump. According to the survey, 46% of respondents view their vote as a move against the former president, while 14% view it as a vote for him. Another 37% of voters state that Trump is not a significant factor in their decision.
The Wason Center suggests these results may serve as a snapshot for how voters across the Commonwealth of Virginia will cast their ballots in the upcoming mid-term elections.
