Secret Service Director Decries Disclosure of Trump Security Ruse

Secret Service Director Sean Curran called the public disclosure of a security maneuver used to transport President Donald Trump out of Turkey regrettable.

U.S. Secret Service Director Sean Curran described the public disclosure of a security ruse used to transport President Donald Trump out of Turkey as regrettable. The maneuver took place on July 8 following a North Atlantic Treaty Organization summit in Ankara.

To mislead observers, Trump publicly boarded Air Force One before secretly switching to a smaller Air Force C-32A aircraft. Journalists, White House staff, and government officials remained on Air Force One, believing the president was still on board while he departed via the second plane.

Curran stated that the publicity surrounding the operation risks compromising the ability of the Secret Service to employ similar tactics in the future.
