Trump Rallies Iowa Voters Ahead of Midterm Elections

President Donald Trump campaigned in Iowa to boost Republican turnout for the November 3 midterms as early voting surges across several key states.

President Donald Trump held a campaign rally on October 22, 2026, at the Sioux Gateway Airport in Sioux City, Iowa, to energize Republican voters for the November 3 midterm elections. Trump focused his address on border security, agricultural protections, domestic manufacturing, and economic policy, warning that a Democratic victory would be "the start of something very bad, very dark, very horrible for our country."

Trump and Vice President JD Vance are conducting a series of rallies across Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas. In Iowa, Trump rallied support for candidates including Representative Zach Nunn and gubernatorial nominee Zach Lahn. Representative Ashley Hinson, running for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Joni Ernst, described the race as a "majority-making seat" and asserted that the nation is watching Iowa.

Simultaneously, former Vice President Kamala Harris and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez campaigned for Democratic Senate candidates in Mississippi and Maine. An Associated Press analysis reports that early voting is surging in key states, with more than 20 million ballots already cast.

Outside of campaign activities, the Trump administration imposed travel bans on 61 officials from Bolivia and Colombia for alleged narcotrafficking. Additionally, a federal judge ordered Trump to sit for a deposition in a defamation lawsuit against the BBC by December 11, and the Department of Justice charged Virginia State Senator L. Louise Lucas with money laundering and drug trafficking.
