Elon Musk Says AI and Robots Only Way to Solve Debt
Elon Musk claims the Department of Government Efficiency failed because officials lack the will to cut spending, asserting only AI and robotics can resolve the national debt.
During an interview with biographer Walter Isaacson for the podcast series The Builders, Elon Musk stated that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) experiment failed to solve the national deficit. He asserted that the national debt cannot be fixed through internal government measures because there is no appetite for spending cuts within the presidency, Congress, or the judiciary.
Musk claimed that artificial intelligence and robotics are the only means to resolve the debt. He noted that while President Donald Trump could implement cuts if they were a primary goal, doing so creates many enemies, observing that the president likes to be liked. Musk identified Senator Rand Paul as one of the few rare exceptions in authority who actually wants to reduce spending.
Reflecting on his four-month tenure in the White House, Musk admitted he got carried away and became too involved in government operations. He stated that he should have remained in the background to focus on AI and his companies sooner.
