Russia Launches 310 Drones as Ukraine Reports 40 Dead
Russian forces launched a massive drone swarm at Ukrainian infrastructure and killed 40 people in a school strike ahead of scheduled peace talks in Abu Dhabi.
The Russian Armed Forces launched 310 drones at Ukrainian energy facilities and civilian infrastructure between November 3 and November 4. The Ukrainian Air Force neutralized 272 of the UAVs, but strikes hit 19 locations, causing power and water outages in Kyiv, Zhytomyr, and Kovel, and damaging commercial infrastructure in Odesa. In Dnipro, two men were injured at an industrial facility.
Separate attacks in the Zaporizhzhia region resulted in higher casualties. Guided bombs struck a former school and shelter in the village of Komyshuvakha on Monday, killing at least 40 people and leaving approximately 30 others missing. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy characterized the strike as a war crime and called for a strong international response.
These escalations occur as Ukraine, Russia, and the United States prepare for negotiations in Abu Dhabi on November 10-11. Zelenskyy has demanded a ceasefire and a halt to energy infrastructure attacks as a prerequisite for a settlement, warning that Moscow's actions undermine the prospects for meaningful talks. Meanwhile, Western allies met in Brussels to discuss postwar security and reconstruction.
In other developments, Zelenskyy awarded the Order of Princess Olga to U.S. First Lady Melania Trump for her humanitarian work and for brokering a six-day ceasefire in Oleshky. Domestically, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine uncovered a corruption plot involving senior security and police officials taking kickbacks to protect criminal operations.
