Trump Unveils First $100 Bill Featuring Sitting President's Signature
President Donald Trump revealed a redesigned $100 bill featuring his signature as part of celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the United States.
President Donald Trump released an image on Truth Social on Friday showcasing a redesigned $100 bill that includes his signature. This marks the first time a sitting U.S. president's signature will appear on paper currency, placing his mark above that of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
The U.S. Treasury Department first announced the plan in March to honor the 250th anniversary of the United States. While Benjamin Franklin remains the primary portrait on the bill, administration officials describe the addition of the president's signature as a recognition of his economic achievements. U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach stated that the new notes are expected to enter circulation soon.
This initiative is part of a larger administration effort to place the president's name and likeness on government documents and landmarks, including national parks passes and commemorative passports. Additionally, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing has prepared prototypes for a special $250 anniversary bill featuring the president's portrait and signature. That project remains pending, as it would require Congress to amend federal law, which generally restricts currency portraits to deceased individuals.
