Trump Expands TrumpRx Platform with Mark Cuban Partnership

The update adds over 600 affordable generic medications to the federal drug-pricing platform, nearly septupling its previous offerings. The expansion is supported by partnerships with Amazon Pharmacy, GoodRx, and billionaire investor Mark Cuban's Cost Plus Drug Company, which provided 559 of the listed generics.

TrumpRx acts as a search engine and facilitator rather than a direct seller, referring users to pharmacies and offering coupons. The initiative utilizes a Most Favored Nation pricing model to align domestic costs with overseas rates. Several pharmaceutical manufacturers, including Amgen, Novartis, GSK, and Boehringer Ingelheim, have signed agreements to offer discounts on brand-name drugs, some exceeding 80%. The White House Council of Economic Advisers projects the platform will save Americans $529 billion over the next decade.

The event marked a public truce between Trump and Mark Cuban, a former surrogate for Kamala Harris in the 2024 election. Trump joked that Cuban's past political choices were a "big mistake," while Cuban framed the alliance as a bipartisan effort to reduce healthcare costs.

Critics, including Senator Elizabeth Warren, described the site as performative and a conduit for expensive drugs. Healthcare experts also noted that patients enrolled in Medicare, Medicaid, the VA, or TRICARE may be ineligible for certain deep discounts due to federal regulations against subsidizing cash payments.
