APC Declares Rotimi Amaechi Unfit for Vice Presidency

The All Progressives Congress mocked Rotimi Amaechi as destitute and unfit for office after he blamed President Tinubu's policies for his mother's death.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) declared Rotimi Amaechi unfit for the vice presidency following claims by the African Democratic Congress candidate that he could not afford medication for his late mother. In a statement issued Sunday, the ruling party mocked the former Rivers State governor and Minister of Transportation, describing him as a loafer and destitute just three years after leaving public office.

During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Amaechi attributed his financial hardship and the death of his mother, Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi, to the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu. He asserted that inflation made essential drugs unaffordable, stating that the president's policies killed his mother.

The APC, through National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, questioned how a former governor and minister could become so financially unstable that his wife now supports him. The party argued that the presidency is not a soup kitchen and accused Amaechi of seeking the 2027 office solely to continue leeching on the public treasury.
