BJP Leaders Demand Rahul Gandhi Resign Over Election Commission Protests

Bharatiya Janata Party leaders demanded Rahul Gandhi's resignation after he protested against the Chief Election Commissioner, accusing the Congress leader of an anarchic mindset.

Bharatiya Janata Party leaders have launched a coordinated attack on Rahul Gandhi following his protests and demands for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. In Varanasi, BJP National President Nitin Nabin called for Gandhi's resignation, accusing him of possessing an "anarchic mindset" and alleging that he is working to provide shelter to infiltrators.

Simultaneously, Karnataka Leader of Opposition R. Ashoka criticized the Congress party's tactics during the Seva Jyoti Yatra in Chitradurga. Ashoka argued that removing the head of an independent constitutional institution requires a formal parliamentary process and presidential approval rather than street protests. He claimed the Congress party only questions the Election Commission after losing elections.

Beyond the dispute over the Election Commission, the BJP expanded its criticism to the Karnataka state government. Ashoka demanded an apology from Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar toward Veerashaiva Lingayat swamijis over a video in which the Chief Minister allegedly told religious leaders to "do service to me."
