Iran Summons German Ambassador Over Nuclear Program Accusations

The Government of Iran summoned German Ambassador Axel Wilhelm Dittmann on Thursday to deliver a formal protest against Germany's hostile diplomatic approach and alleged interference in Iranian internal affairs.

The diplomatic rift follows a joint press conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, where German Chancellor Friedrich Merz accused Iran of maintaining a military nuclear program, supporting regional proxies, and obstructing shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian officials, including Assistant Minister Alireza Yousefi and spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei, rejected the claims as "baseless" and "knowingly distorted." Iranian representatives further accused Germany of complicity in Israeli crimes against Palestinians. Ambassador Dittmann stated he would convey the objections from Tehran to the German government.
