Congress President Condemns Blocked US Visit for Telangana Chief Minister

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge condemned the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government for denying political clearance for Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's proposed visit to the United States. Kharge argued that the central government is granting foreign travel permissions selectively to stall state-level investment initiatives and undermine federalism, asserting that such visits are critical for securing foreign direct investment and engaging the Indian diaspora.

The Ministry of External Affairs rejected these claims, stating that the visit was not granted clearance because it was not considered appropriate for the office held and the purpose of the visit. Kharge further criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policy approach as a derivative of Jawaharlal Nehru's vision and dismissed recent debates over the national song Vande Mataram as a deliberate attempt at political polarization.
