Donald Trump Defends Acceptance of Qatari Boeing 747 Gift
President Donald Trump defended accepting a luxury Boeing 747 from Qatar as a bridge aircraft for the U.S. presidency during Arizona campaign rallies.
Donald Trump defended his acceptance of a luxury Boeing 747 gifted by Qatar during a campaign rally in Bullhead City, Arizona, on Wednesday. The president stated he had originally contacted Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to borrow the aircraft for temporary use as Air Force One, citing the aging condition of current U.S. presidential planes.
Trump explained that the Emir declined the loan and instead offered the aircraft as a gift to the United States. The United States Air Force has since designated the jet as VC-25B, intended to serve as a bridge aircraft until new presidential planes are delivered in 2028.
The remarks were part of a series of rallies in Arizona, Montana, Alaska, and Ohio to support Republican candidates before the November 3 midterm elections. While Trump focused on the aircraft and White House renovations, critics and some Republican supporters have questioned the gift, and voters have expressed concerns regarding rising living costs.
