Donald Trump Launches Aggressive Midterm Campaign Strategy

President Donald Trump pledged extensive travel and launched a self-focused advertising campaign to support Republican candidates in 35 key congressional races ahead of November midterms.

President Donald Trump has launched a high-visibility campaign strategy to support Republican candidates in 35 key congressional races ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. Speaking at a White House dinner and in the Oval Office on September 2, Trump pledged to campaign aggressively, including potential daily rallies throughout October and a scheduled appearance on both nights of the Republican Party midterm convention.

As part of this push, Securing American Greatness, a nonprofit arm of a pro-Trump super PAC, debuted a $1 million advertising campaign in major markets including New York, Washington, DC, Chicago, and Philadelphia. The ads, such as Toughest Guy and Tax Cut Prices, focus on the president's own record rather than specific candidates, claiming credit for reductions in prescription drug and egg prices and tax cuts on Social Security, tips, and overtime.

This strategy follows advice from political advisers that the public is unaware of his accomplishments. However, the approach comes as Trump faces low approval ratings—reported between 33% and 39.6%—driven by persistent inflation and a seven-month conflict with Iran. While his associated PAC held $403 million as of July 31, some reports suggest these funds may be reserved for a presidential library rather than distributed to GOP candidates in the House and Senate.
