President Tinubu Dissolves Federal Government Properties Committee

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu dissolved the Presidential Implementation Committee on the Alienation of Federal Government Properties after a review found it exceeded its original mandate.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu dissolved the Presidential Implementation Committee (PIC) on the Alienation of Federal Government Properties, a body originally established in 2000 under President Olusegun Obasanjo. The committee was tasked with the privatization, sale, and lease of federal landed assets to convert them into cash under a monetisation policy.

Government reviews determined the committee had exceeded its original mandate, resulting in numerous litigations across Nigeria. While some reports treat the action as a recent decision, others indicate it reaffirms a dissolution approved previously, effective November 5, 2025.

President Tinubu transferred all coordination and functions of the committee's activities to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi. Additionally, the president ordered the former secretary of the committee, Bello Suleiman Dutsin-Ma, to immediately cease acting or representing the committee and the federal government in these matters.
