Trump Campaigns for Darline Graham in South Carolina Midterm Race
President Donald Trump campaigned for Republican Senator Darline Graham in South Carolina while questioning the integrity of midterm elections in Alaska and other states.
President Donald Trump held a campaign rally in Rock Hill, South Carolina, on Thursday to support Republican Senator Darline Graham in her bid for reelection. Graham, who was appointed by Governor Henry McMaster to fill the seat of her late brother, Lindsey Graham, is facing a challenge from Democratic pediatrician Annie Andrews. During the event, Trump labeled Andrews a "radical left lunatic" and "Tranny Annie," warning that a Democratic victory in the midterms would destroy the economy.
Senator Graham characterized Andrews as "batshit crazy" and accused her of favoring firearm confiscation. Senator Tim Scott also appeared at the rally, praising Graham's effectiveness and her work on Russia sanctions. The race remains competitive as Graham struggles to connect with voters frustrated by gas prices, the economy, and the war in Iran.
Trump used the event to support other GOP candidates, including Michael Whatley in North Carolina. He also questioned the integrity of the upcoming midterms, claiming Democrats oppose voter ID because they "want to cheat." In Alaska, Trump called for the removal of Democratic candidate Mary Peltola from the ballot, alleging that the presence of two candidates named Sullivan constitutes voter fraud. The Governor of Alaska has since ordered an investigation into the matter. To expand his reach, Trump converted a scheduled Kansas rally into a virtual event and plans tele-rallies across two dozen states.
