Donald Trump Launches Midterm Rally Tour Across United States
President Donald Trump is conducting a nationwide campaign blitz to mobilize Republican voters, despite internal GOP concerns over his low approval ratings.
President Donald Trump is conducting a nationwide series of campaign rallies throughout October to mobilize Republican supporters ahead of the midterm elections. The itinerary focuses on heavily conservative regions, including recent stops in Nebraska, Texas, Tennessee, and Upstate New York, to avoid areas where the president's low approval ratings might hinder GOP candidates.
Recent activities include a rally in Syracuse, New York, for gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman and a visit to Clarksville, Tennessee. Future stops are scheduled for Youngstown, Ohio; Wasilla, Alaska; Kalispell, Montana; and Bullhead City, Arizona. While White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and other advisers manage the schedule, the tour has faced logistical challenges due to the president's refusal to stay overnight anywhere other than his own properties, such as his hotel in Las Vegas.
Internal Republican reactions to the strategy are mixed. Some advisers maintain that rallies are the most effective way to boost turnout among devoted supporters. However, pollster Mark Mitchell questioned the logic of a 30-day blitz given the president's current unpopularity, and conservative radio host Bob Lonsberry urged the president to stay away from certain candidates, viewing him as a political liability.
