TikTok US Security Chief to Testify Before House Committee

Will Farrell will testify before the House Select Committee on China on September 15 regarding ByteDance's role in TikTok US operations.

TikTok US Chief Security Officer Will Farrell is scheduled to testify before the U.S. House Select Committee on China on September 15. This appearance marks the first public House testimony from a TikTok US executive since January 2026, when the company finalized a restructuring deal to comply with a 2024 law requiring divestment from ByteDance.

Under the current arrangement, TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC operates the app. This American-owned entity is managed by investors Oracle, Silver Lake, and MGX, while ByteDance retains a 19.9% stake. Lawmakers intend to use the hearing to examine the specifics of this structure, Chinese involvement in the application, and the role President Donald Trump played in brokering the split to avoid a national security ban.

While Farrell is confirmed to appear, TikTok US CEO Adam Presser is not expected to testify on that date. Additionally, a separate Senate invitation for TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew to testify on children's safety has not yet been assigned a date.
