Russia Launches Ballistic Missile Strikes Across Ukraine

The Federal Government of Russia launched a series of ballistic missile attacks across Ukraine between July 30 and August 1, 2026. On July 30, Russian forces used two North Korean KN-23 missiles during a shelling campaign. One missile struck a private house in Radushne, killing six people, including three children, and leaving five minors missing. A second missile landed in a nearby field where officials stated no targets existed within a 5 km radius.

Early Saturday, August 1, Russian forces executed several waves of strikes on Kyiv and its suburbs between 1:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. These attacks caused a residential building to partially collapse and ignited fires at industrial warehouses. Casualties in the capital varied by report, with Mayor Vitali Klitschko stating at least three people died, while the city's military administration reported four deaths and 15 injuries. Intelligence suggests targets included the CHP-5 power plant and facilities belonging to the Ukrainian defense industry.

Presidential Commissioner for Sanctions Policy Vladyslav Vlasiuk identified the KN-23 as an analogue of the Russian Iskander missile and claimed it contains Western components. Following these escalations, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has sought increased air defense support from the United Kingdom and the United States.
