Osun APC Stakeholders Petition President Tinubu After Election Loss
The Osun APC Stakeholders Forum petitioned President Bola Tinubu to restructure the state party leadership following a defeat in the August 15 governorship election.
The Osun APC Stakeholders Forum has petitioned President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the All Progressives Congress following the party's defeat in the August 15, 2026, governorship election. In an open letter, the forum attributed the loss to internal divisions and the leadership style of Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola.
Stakeholders accused Oyetola of unilaterally selecting candidates and concentrating federal appointments among his relatives, allies, and hometown faction. The forum claims these exclusionary practices alienated the party's base across the three senatorial districts of Osun State.
To restore party unity, the group requested an independent review of the state's leadership structure and candidate-selection process. They urged the APC National Working Committee to convene a state congress to elect a representative executive and organize a reconciliation summit for all factions. The petition also called for a transparent framework for future candidate selection and a more equitable distribution of federal appointments.
