Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a ₹169-crore data center and Cybersecurity Training Institute established by the Reserve Bank of India in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on Sunday.
During the event, Modi warned that modern warfare now targets national economies through cyberattacks. He stated that protecting the banking system from "cybercriminals and cyberterrorists" requires modern infrastructure and skilled personnel to maintain financial sector reliability.
Modi contrasted current direct benefit transfers with previous systems, noting that formal banking services have expanded to small entrepreneurs and the unorganised sector since 2014. He also identified Odisha as having significant growth potential in sectors ranging from mining to microchips.
