Trump Faces MAGA Revolt Over Military Intervention in Iran

President Donald Trump faces criticism from America First allies after military interventions in Iran and Venezuela led to American casualties and regional instability.

President Donald Trump is facing a growing divide within his Republican coalition following military interventions in Iran and Venezuela. Critics from the America First movement argue these actions betray the isolationist platform he campaigned on in 2024. The conflict in Iran has resulted in at least 1,300 reported deaths within the country and 13 American fatalities, including six who died in a plane crash in Iraq.

Prominent figures including Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene and media personality Tucker Carlson have condemned the war. Carlson has urged the United States to exit the conflict immediately, asserting that the struggle is Israel's war rather than an American one. Representative Thomas Massie further challenged the administration's authority by supporting a failed measure to grant Congress veto power over the war.

While some MAGA supporters continue to back the president, polls indicate significant skepticism among non-MAGA Republicans and a majority of the general public. Internal administration tensions have also surfaced, with reports of discontent over domestic austerity measures and allegations of lavish spending by official Pete Hegseth. Former diplomats suggest these interventions risk undermining Trump's reputation as a leader who avoids forever wars.
