BJP Accuses Rahul Gandhi of Seeking Regime Change in India
The Bharatiya Janata Party accused Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party of plotting a regime change inspired by student-led protests in Bangladesh.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and the Indian National Congress of attempting to facilitate a regime change and destroy Indian democracy. The allegations follow a viral video featuring Neha Bora, President of the All India Students’ Association (AISA), who offered a red salute to the youth of Bangladesh and cited the Gen-Z movement that toppled Sheikh Hasina's government as an inspiration for Indian youth fighting for voting rights.
During a press conference in New Delhi, BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari labeled Bora the poster girl for Rahul Gandhi's protest movement. Bhandari alleged that the Congress ecosystem is promoting an anarchic revolt to undermine the Constitution rather than engaging in democratic political resistance. He further linked Gandhi to lawyer Prashant Bhushan, claiming a pattern of legitimizing bloodshed and revolution to achieve power.
These accusations emerge as Rahul Gandhi and the INDIA bloc lead protests against the Election Commission of India. The opposition has alleged vote theft and irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The BJP maintains that the Congress party is politicizing these institutional issues to discredit democratic bodies.
