Muslim Women Alliance Pledges 10 Million Votes for Tinubu
The National Alliance of Muslim Women Associations of Nigeria pledged to mobilize 10 million voters for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid.
The National Alliance of Muslim Women Associations of Nigeria (NAMWAN) has pledged to mobilize 10 million voters to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election in the 2027 general elections. During a gathering in Abuja, NAMWAN National President Dr. Sameera Abubakar Abdullahi announced that the coalition, which represents over 20 women's associations, already possesses a network of two million members with Permanent Voter Cards.
In exchange for this support, NAMWAN is demanding increased political representation, structured gender inclusion within the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC-PCC), and institutional support for healthcare, education, and economic empowerment for widows and rural women. The group plans to organize a summit of 1,000 Muslim women to engage APC-PCC leadership and seek a meeting with First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
Parallel to these efforts, Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim urged women in Northern Nigeria to support the president's bid during a campaign flag-off in Kaduna. Sulaiman-Ibrahim dismissed claims of regional bias against the North, citing university establishments and infrastructure projects as evidence of the administration's commitment. While acknowledging current economic hardships, she described them as temporary pains resulting from federal reforms intended to reposition the national economy.
