Donald Trump Approval Ratings Hit All-Time Second-Term Lows

Donald Trump has seen his job approval ratings fall to all-time lows during his second term, with recent July 2026 polls from Quinnipiac University, CNN, and Associated Press-NORC placing his support between 32% and 34%. A Quinnipiac poll found 32% of registered voters approve of his performance, while 58% disapprove.

The decline is primarily attributed to a months-long war with Iran, which has driven up gas prices and strained personal finances. This downturn is evident even among his base; Republican approval fell to 76% from 85% in June, with some surveys showing a 10-point drop specifically regarding his handling of the Iran conflict.

Other factors contributing to the slide include voter disapproval over White House renovations and a reported $2 billion financial windfall for the president in 2025. Republican strategist Sarah Longwell noted that these numbers have reached the "Bush Line," mirroring the late-term approval ratings of George W. Bush.

The political fallout arrives ahead of the November 2026 midterm elections, where Democrats currently hold a lead on the generic congressional ballot.
