Trump Rebrands AI as Super Intelligence Sparking Slovenia Domain Surge
President Donald Trump announced the U.S. government will replace artificial intelligence with super intelligence in official documents, triggering a spike in Slovenia's .si domain registrations.
President Donald Trump announced at the United Nations General Assembly that the United States government will rebrand artificial intelligence as super intelligence, or SI, in official documents. Trump argued that the word artificial makes the technology sound fake and that the new term is more accurate.
The announcement triggered an immediate surge in registrations for Slovenia's .si web domains. The Academic and Research Network of Slovenia, which operates the Register.si portal, reported that monthly registrations jumped from roughly 1,000 to over 6,000 in two days. Later data indicated a more dramatic increase, with registrations rising from 3,500 for the entire month of August to an average of 3,700 per day. Total registered .si domains surpassed 200,000 for the first time, reaching approximately 220,000 by Tuesday.
In response to the boom, Register.si issued an advisory urging trademark and company holders to register their domains quickly to protect their brands. Private registrars, including Lithuania-based Hostinger, began advertising the domains to capitalize on the rebranding. Michael Kratsios, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, further promoted the term super intelligence to the U.N. Security Council.
