APC Leaders Congratulate Governor Adeleke After Osun Election

All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders have formally acknowledged the re-election of Ademola Adeleke as Governor of Osun State following the August 15, 2026, election. Governor Adeleke secured victory with 511,067 votes, defeating APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who received 444,815 votes.

While accepting the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, Bola Oyebamiji condemned a surge in post-election violence. He reported the killings of more than 35 people, including former Irewole Local Government Chairman Remi Abass, Atakumosa APC Chairman Chief Gbenga Ogbara, and Dele Ayegbo. Oyebamiji urged the Nigeria Police Force to investigate these deaths and called on Governor Adeleke to protect all citizens.

On Sunday, APC National Secretary Surajudeen Basiru visited Governor Adeleke in Osogbo to offer congratulations. Basiru acknowledged the toxicity of political campaigning and his own previous opposition to Adeleke, but emphasized the importance of recognizing democratic outcomes. During the visit, Basiru thanked the governor for attending his late mother's funeral rites and for maintaining his endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election.

Despite the defeat, the APC has shifted its focus toward the 2027 general elections, with Oyebamiji instructing party members to begin mobilizing for President Tinubu's re-election bid.
