Micheál Martin Meets Donald Trump to Discuss Gaza Aid

Taoiseach Micheál Martin met with U.S. President Donald Trump during a two-day visit to Ireland, holding discussions in Dublin and at a golf resort in Doonbeg, Co Clare. The meetings focused on accelerating the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza following the implementation of Trump's peace plan for the region.

Martin defended his decision not to use the term genocide during these encounters, despite previously stating that the suffering in Gaza could be credibly described as such. He told reporters he deliberately prioritized aid access because the United States serves as the key interlocutor with Israel. Trump reportedly undertook to do everything possible to ensure that aid, including contributions from Ireland, reaches Gaza.

During the visit, Martin reaffirmed Ireland's support for a Palestinian state and a two-state solution. He criticized the European Union's inability to hold Israel to account and spoke out against settlements in the West Bank.
