Trump Defends Russia Diesel Deal Amid Ambassador Resignation

President Donald Trump defended a Russian diesel deal and requested the resignation of the U.S. ambassador to Greece while campaigning for midterm elections.

President Donald Trump defended a controversial agreement to facilitate Russian diesel supplies to global markets, arguing the move lowers energy prices for the world. The deal has sparked internal party opposition, with 12 senators, including six Republicans, urging the president to rescind the agreement on the grounds that it finances Russia's war in Ukraine.

On the diplomatic front, the administration requested the resignation of U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle following reports of improper conduct. White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia formally announced the request, noting that Guilfoyle had been an asset to the team. Regarding the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Trump confirmed the U.S. continues to share intelligence with Kyiv and is working with both nations to negotiate an end to the war.

Domestically, Trump is intensifying campaign travel to Alaska, Arizona, and Montana to support Republican candidates ahead of the midterm elections. This push comes as a federal judge blocked the administration from using $20 million in taxpayer funds for television advertisements promoting the president's agenda. Trump stated that the super PAC MAGA Inc. would fund future advertisements to bypass the restriction.
