Unitree CEO Predicts Robot Breakthrough Within 10 Years

Unitree Robotics CEO Wang Xingxing estimates a major breakthrough in embodied intelligence could take up to a decade, contrasting with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang's view.

Unitree Robotics CEO Wang Xingxing stated at the 2026 World Robot Conference in Beijing that a breakthrough in embodied intelligence could take between two and 10 years. Wang defines this "ChatGPT moment" as the point when robots can complete 80% of tasks in unfamiliar environments using only voice or language commands.

Wang identified the primary bottleneck as the ability of AI to reliably interact with and generalize across the physical world. This timeline contrasts with the perspective of Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, who believes the industry's breakthrough moment has already occurred.

The comments follow the public debut of Unitree Robotics on the Shanghai stock exchange earlier this week. The company raised approximately $900 million, with shares surging 460% to reach a valuation of roughly $50 billion.
