Trump Administration Cancels $27 Billion in Clean Energy Projects

President Donald Trump is implementing a national energy policy centered on fossil fuel expansion and the systematic restriction of clean energy initiatives. This shift has already resulted in the cancellation of clean energy projects totaling $27 billion, driven by administration efforts to eliminate federal tax credits for electric vehicles, wind, and solar power.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright canceled a federal loan guarantee for the $11 billion Grain Belt Express transmission line, a project designed to transport wind energy from Kansas through Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana. The project had faced opposition from U.S. Senator Josh Hawley. Simultaneously, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum mandated new political reviews for wind and solar projects to slow their development.

While trade adviser Peter Navarro has criticized India for purchasing Russian oil to curb Vladimir Putin's war efforts, critics argue that the administration's domestic focus on fossil fuels contradicts the goal of isolating Russia. Some observers further claim these policies cede the global electric vehicle market to China.
