Trump Attends Dignified Transfer as Iran War Death Toll Hits 18

President Donald Trump attended a dignified transfer ceremony on Wednesday at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware for four U.S. service members killed in the ongoing conflict with Iran. Among the deceased were 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, and Sgt. Angel Rampersad, who died during Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. A fourth soldier, Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton, was killed in Iraq during a controlled detonation of a downed Iranian drone.

These fatalities bring the total U.S. military death toll to 18 since the war began on February 28, following initial strikes launched by the United States and Israel. Of the 18 deaths, ten are classified as hostile action, including six soldiers killed by a March drone strike in Kuwait and one killed at a U.S. base in Saudi Arabia. Other losses include six crew members from a March 12 aircraft crash in Iraq and a helicopter pilot who died in the Arabian Sea in early July.

The ceremony took place as the U.S. military conducted its 11th consecutive night of retaliatory strikes against Iran after an interim peace agreement collapsed. Chief Pentagon Spokesperson Sean Parnell reported that 447 service members have been wounded since February, with 100 of those injuries occurring since July 7. Trump stated that Iran would pay a big price for the killings and noted that while air defenses intercepted most attacks in Jordan, some managed to slip through.
