Economist-YouGov Poll Shows Majority View Donald Trump as Corrupt

A recent Economist-YouGov poll of registered U.S. voters reveals that a majority of respondents view Donald Trump as corrupt (53%) and dangerous (51%). The survey, which utilized web-based interviews from an opt-in panel, found that 58% of participants disapprove of the president's job performance. Other negative descriptors included out-of-touch (47%), cruel (46%), and divisive, with data suggesting some of these views are held by his own supporters.

In response to the findings and a broader trend of perceived government corruption, White House spokesperson Davis Ingle stated that the president has launched a war on federal fraud to hold criminals accountable. The poll also indicated that 50% of respondents believe the Iran War was a mistake.

President Trump has positioned the upcoming midterm elections as a referendum on his presidency. To incentivize voters, he pledged a $5,000 dividend to every adult U.S. citizen if Republicans maintain control of Congress. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson noted that such a proposal would require congressional approval.
