Modi Orders Fast-Track Courts After Student Exam Protests

Prime Minister Narendra Modi established fast-track courts to punish exam paper leak culprits following widespread student protests in New Delhi and Bihar.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the creation of fast-track courts to ensure swift and stringent punishment for those responsible for examination paper leaks. The decision follows widespread unrest driven by students protesting education reforms and irregularities, specifically regarding the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

Student demonstrations occurred in New Delhi and Bihar, where some clashes and stone-pelting were reported in Siwan. In New Delhi, the Delhi Police blocked demonstrators attempting to march toward Parliament. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju defended the law enforcement response, asserting that no protesters suffered serious injuries or casualties during the events.

Rijiju accused political groups, including the Aam Aadmi Party, Bhim Army, and Samajwadi Party, of inciting the violence. He maintained that police used minimal force and only intervened when demonstrators attempted to break through barricades.
