Nokia Corporation and NVIDIA Launch AI-Native Radio Access Network Platform

Nokia Corporation partnered with NVIDIA to launch the first commercial AI-native Radio Access Network platform to increase spectral efficiency and provide a software path to 6G.

Nokia Corporation and NVIDIA have launched the industry's first commercial AI-native Radio Access Network (RAN) platform. The system integrates Nokia's anyRAN software with NVIDIA's Aerial AI-RAN, utilizing GPU-accelerated computing and CUDA to shift radio architecture from hardware-defined to software-defined platforms.

Nokia Corporation reports that the platform has already achieved spectral efficiency gains of over 20%, with goals to reach 50% by 2027 and over 100% by 2028. This progression effectively doubles the capacity of existing spectrum assets without requiring traditional hardware upgrade cycles. The O-RAN compliant system offers three deployment paths: a GPU-powered plug-in for AirScale customers, a standalone AI-RAN node, and cloud-native COTS server solutions.

To ensure continuous performance enhancements, the company is introducing a software subscription model for AI algorithm updates. Nokia Corporation is collaborating with operators including SoftBank in Japan, T-Mobile USA, and IOH in Indonesia. Pilot deployments are scheduled for late 2026, with full commercial availability expected in 2027.
