California Latino Voters Show Strong Disapproval of Donald Trump

A poll released Tuesday by the Latino Community Foundation shows that 75% of California Latino voters disapprove of Donald Trump's performance in his second term. The survey of 1,250 registered voters indicates a significant shift away from the Republican Party ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, primarily driven by frustrations over inflation, housing affordability, and the cost of living.

While approximately half of Hispanic voters supported Trump in his reelection, 78% of those surveyed now believe administration policies have failed to address economic pressures, and nearly 60% report their personal financial situations have worsened. Other data supports this trend, including a Latino Working Class Project poll showing 28% approval for Trump and a Fox News survey where 63% of Hispanic respondents plan to vote for Democratic congressional candidates.

Julián Castro, CEO of the Latino Community Foundation, described the findings as a swing back from the narrative developed after the 2024 election. Despite the shift toward Democrats, respondents expressed skepticism toward both major parties regarding whether either truly cares about the Latino community.
