Atiku Abubakar Calls Tinubu's Relief Plan Election Bait
Atiku Abubakar labeled President Bola Tinubu's 90-day cost-of-living relief plan a scam designed to influence voters ahead of the upcoming presidential election.
Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress, has condemned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's 90-day cost-of-living relief plan as a scam and election bait. Abubakar argued that the plan is strategically timed to end after the presidential election, which is 86 days away, meaning the relief expires only after Nigerians have voted.
The African Democratic Congress criticized the administration for three and a half years of economic hardship following the removal of petrol subsidies. The party challenged the government to provide specific details regarding the budget, household eligibility, and the completion of key projects within the plan. Additionally, the campaign questioned the efficacy of a petrol discount promotion by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, claiming the discounts were unavailable at retail stations.
Beyond economic concerns, the ADC criticized President Tinubu for neglecting victims of military drone strikes and flooding in Kaduna State. The party highlighted these failures as the president prepares to visit the state to launch his re-election campaign. The ADC also raised alarms over a registration form titled Arise for Tinubu 2027, which they claim collects sensitive bank and voter details from citizens.
