Donald Trump Demands Financial Compensation from Iran for Peace Talks

Donald Trump announced that the United States will demand financial compensation from Iran as a prerequisite for any future peace negotiations. The announcement came via a post on Truth Social, where the president responded to suggestions that Iran might seek damages for losses incurred during five months of war.

Trump stated that the U.S. would make its own financial demands based on decades of attacks and atrocities allegedly backed by the Islamic Republic. He specifically cited the October 2000 bombing of the USS Cole in Yemen as a justification for holding Iran financially accountable.

However, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has attributed the USS Cole attack to al-Qaeda rather than the Iranian government. These conflicting views on liability emerge as both nations consider the possibility of peace talks, with the issue of compensation becoming a central point of contention.
