Polls Show Democrats Support Extreme Measures to Remove Trump

Recent polling from the Center for Strategic Politics and Liberal Currents indicates that a significant portion of the Democratic electorate supports extreme or non-democratic measures to remove Donald Trump from office. The Center for Strategic Politics reported that 87% of respondents favor impeachment and 84% support removal via the 25th Amendment. However, the data also shows a willingness to accept more radical outcomes, with reports varying between 43% and 60% of Democrats viewing a military coup positively. Other findings indicate that 31% to 32% of respondents would approve of the president's assassination.

Republican officials condemned the findings. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis claimed the results prove Democrats support a military coup, while Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger described the respondents as sick. Alan Dershowitz, professor emeritus at Harvard Law, stated the results reflect a broader frustration with democratic processes and a rising tolerance for political violence among younger generations.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries responded by stating that Democrats must be guided by the constitution and the facts. While he noted that the party has not ruled out impeachment, he emphasized the need to follow the law. These findings emerge as Democrats are projected to regain control of the House of Representatives in the upcoming November 3 midterm elections.
