In a separate interview with Newsmax host Greg Kelly, Vance misspoke while discussing President Donald Trump's policies on street safety. He initially stated that Trump had used his mandate to make American streets "less safe" before quickly correcting his statement to "more safe."

This occurred following remarks by Donald Trump, who described North Carolina cities as "blood-soaked killing fields" and "criminally dangerous." These events take place as national homicide rates fall, though drug offenses rose 12 percent between the first half of 2025 and 2026.
