This mirrors a previous incident where Walmart clarified that its summer Rollback price cuts were planned independently of administration requests.
Separately, a White House video from the 2026 World Cup final at MetLife Stadium appeared to contradict the president's official height of 6-foot-3, which he has claimed since 1999. In the footage, Trump appeared several inches shorter than Spanish soccer player Rodrigo Hernández Cascante, who is also listed at 6-foot-3.
Senior Deputy Press Secretary Kush Desai defended the administration's role in ensuring consumer savings despite the contradictions provided by the retail chains.
