Chinese President Xi Jinping conducted a state visit to Bishkek on August 31, 2026, where he and President Sadyr Japarov signed a comprehensive package of 32 bilateral agreements. The leaders formalized the Treaty on Eternal Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation and a Joint Declaration on the High-Quality Development of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the New Era.

The agreements prioritize expansion in trade, investment, agriculture, technology, and transport. Specific infrastructure goals include the development of China-Central Asia-Europe railway express services and the construction of a road border bridge at the Bedel checkpoint across the Uzongu-Kuush river.

President Japarov stated that cooperation between the two countries had entered a "new golden period." He indicated that Kyrgyzstan intends to move beyond its role as a primary importer of Chinese goods to become a regional logistics hub and a participant in joint production chains.
