Iran and US Trade Claims of Victory After Conflict

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi claims military victory over the US and Israel, while President Donald Trump asserts total naval control over the Strait of Hormuz.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi declared on Tuesday that Iran achieved military and diplomatic victories following two periods of conflict with the United States and Israel on February 28 and June 13 of the previous year. Speaking at ceremonies for infrastructure rebuilding and a meeting at the Ministry of Health, Araghchi stated that Iranian resilience forced opposing forces to seek negotiations after they had initially demanded an unconditional surrender. He asserted that the Iranian Armed Forces defeated the world's largest conventional military force while maintaining essential domestic services.

President Donald Trump disputed these claims of Iranian dominance, asserting that the United States Navy maintains total control over the Strait of Hormuz. Trump described the U.S. blockade as an infallible steel wall that controls all traffic to Iran.

The two nations remain deadlocked over financial settlements. While Tehran has sought reparations for damages caused by U.S. military actions, Trump stated that the United States will demand its own compensation from Iran for damages incurred over a 50-year period.
