Bernie Sanders Condemns Elon Musk's Election Spending

Senator Bernie Sanders criticized the US campaign finance system and billionaire Elon Musk's election spending while endorsing a temporary halt on advanced AI development.

US Senator Bernie Sanders criticized the American campaign finance system as corrupt, specifically targeting billionaire Elon Musk for spending over $650 million to influence elections between 2024 and 2026. Sanders called for sweeping reforms based on the principle of one person, one vote, warning that Big Tech oligarchs should not determine the future of humanity.

In addition to finance concerns, Sanders endorsed a proposal from Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed to temporarily halt the development of advanced artificial intelligence models and data centers until proper safeguards are established.

This debate over AI coincides with a shift in federal terminology. President Donald Trump signed an executive order titled Inaugurating the Era of Super Intelligence, which directs federal agencies to use the terms Super Intelligence and SI in official communications. Following this order, Elon Musk announced plans to rename SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI.
